'Account not registered on blockchain' error when recovering from a Secret key (HEX code) backup

Recovering a FinTap app account from a Secret key (HEX code) backup cannot be completed with ‘Account not registered on blockchain’ error.

A Secret key, or a HEX code backing up a FinTap app account, is a 64-symbol code presented in 8 blocks 8 symbols each.

When saved from FinTap app screen, it is presented in two columns with numbered blocks, indicating their sequence.

When copied and pasted, or sent via e-mail the code is presented as a string

But when recovering an account from backup, there is a two-column unnumbered form to enter the code to:

It is therefore easy to enter the code in a wrong sequence, e.g. 1-3-5-7-2-4-6-8 instead of 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, which is a typical reason a Secret key (HEX code) cannot be associated with the respective ID on EON blockchain and hence is not accepted, resulting in app returning the 'Account not registered on blockchain' error.

  1. Make sure the sequence you enter the Secret key (HEX code) in is right;
  2. If previously saved, use a QR code based backup to recover your account.
